Church of St. Martin, Zillis GR
In the centre of the village, at the southern end of the Viamala Gorge, stands the Romanesque aisleless church, which is particularly famous for its richly painted wooden ceiling. The climate and the associated damage patterns have been documented for some time; any damage is treated using conservation methods. During this work, accelerated mould growth and increased pest infestation were observed.
Our Questions
- What conclusions can be drawn from the most recent, detailed observations?
- What new protective measures are needed for this most valuable timber ceiling and timber fittings in general?
- Which pests will we need to treat, and how?
