The following criteria were used to select relevant case studies:
- Geographical location, to represent different climatic zones within Switzerland
- Regional climate projections, particularly with regard to increasing precipitation intensity and rising temperatures
- Different building typologies of varying sizes, including residential and public use
- Various construction methods and materials, including stone, brick, timber and metal
- Existing documentation on the conservation history of the properties, their current condition, and maintenance and repair measures
- Interest among relevant stakeholders in collaborating
